Brigitte says she will out of town the next two weekends so I will have to suffer through without visiting Rama and mama :-( I am using the time to get this blog going and look into nutrition for the little monster.
I spent the afternoon at Kirembo today and Katie is taking real good care of my Rama, except that one time she tried to knock him onto the floor '-) Of course that would never have happened without all the distractions. I discovered a little eccentricity of the mama tonight. She has a thing about arm pits weird but funny. Katie also got to know me well enough to demonstrate her strength at play. Cats this size are plenty strong. No wonder they can jump 8 feet straight in the air.
I ordered a 6 1/2 foot cat tree from YugiSoft as suggested by Briggitte. The prices are pretty good and they are plywood instead of chip board like most of them. Brigitte says the faux fleece wears better than the carpet most companies use.

I got to meet Brigitte, her husband JN and the menagerie today. Katie was the obvious star attraction. The pictures can't do much to prepare you for the Savannah. In Katie's case the effect is amplified many times over. Rama was a sleepy head and still nursing constantly. This picture is of Katie at 2 weeks. As spectacular as Rama looks by comparison I am fully stoked. I'm just afraid Brigitte will decide to keep him. I plan to visit again next weekend.
I got my first set of pictures tonight and Brigitte tells me he has an amazing pattern. Any fool can see he is something special and the kitten will henceforth be known as "Lord Rama" (or just Rama).
I chose the name from a SciFi book series I love and a character from Indian literature. We are working out when I can visit the cattery and deliver the deposit.
In very short order I find myself the lucky future owner of Katie's sole kitten in her litter. She went through some drama but things ended up peachy. I about blew a vein when I found out what the little devil will cost but at this point the hook was already in too deep. I talked to Brigitte (the breeder) and an owner of a year old male from Katie's previous litter. Brigitte was impressed enough with my questionaire (a requirement of her cattery) that she decided I was the right choice.
After a few impatient days I was browsing some sites and read a comparison of various hybrid breeds. The Bengal is the best recognized but I like what I read about the Savannah. I spent a very late night searching and contacted Kirembo Savannahs about a kitten. Their close proximity is a plus and I also fell in love with Katie, the resident queen. She has a spectacular coat, an amazing nose and a very interesting family history.
